Frequently Asked Questions

Do you allow pets?

Due to our new designation as a hypoallergenic stay, we do not host pets. In an effort to maintain 5 Star cleanliness, anti allergens are used including plant based cleaners and hepa filter vacuums. We have found that the blanket policy of a smoke free and animal-free stay in the cabins has helped to earn us this classification. Due to ADA covering both the allowance of service pets AND the allowance of hypoallergenic stays and workplaces, we have prioritized the staff and the human guests ahead of fur-guests that may travel with you. To achieve this, our units are all animal free, ALL of our linen goods are laundered and sanitized after every stay (shower curtains, pillows, throws, ALL of it).  We launder in accordance with hypoallergenic recommendations and sanitize thoroughly. While we anticipate this policy is a disappointment to some guests, we have had considerable response from those wishing to not share their beds (no matter how clean) with someone else's dog on their paid for upcoming stay.

Are laundry services available?

All of our guest homes have their own washer/dryer except for Augustine, Fireweed, Alder and Spruce. If you're staying in one of those units, we can possibly arrange to do a load of laundry for while housekeeping is onsite. This needs to be prearranged (the day before) and is based on our housekeeping schedule.

Do you keep the hot tubs running?

Yes! The hot tubs run year-round and they will be hot when you arrive. For most of our guest homes' hot tubs, we control the water temperature remotely so please call us if you need to adjust it.

Can I add more people to my reservation than the max amount listed?

Generally, no. However, we are willing to make exceptions on a case-by-case basis for our larger units. If we approve an extra person, you will be charged an added $75/person for each night of your stay. Any children over the age of 12 months count towards the max occupancy.
In order to be mindful of other guests, we kindly request that families with babies do not reserve the Fireweed and Alder units.
Please call (907) 299-7412 or email us (reservations@baycrestlodge.com) with inquiries about extra people.

What clothes should I pack?

No matter the time of year, we recommend packing layers. The weather in Homer can change quickly so it's best to be prepared for warm and cold temperatures. Here are some items we suggest bringing:

  • Wool socks
  • Pants
  • Long sleeve and short sleeve t-shirts
  • A fleece jacket or flannel shirt
  • A puffy jacket
  • A windbreaker or lightweight rain jacket
  • A warm hat or beanie
  • Sunglasses
  • Rubber boots
  • Gloves

How do I check in?

For all Baycrest Lodge guest homes, you receive check in instructions 2 days prior to arrival. You may also call us to clarify or ask questions about checking in at (907) 299-7412.

When do you close for the season?

We don’t! We stay open year-round!

Why do you charge a cleaning fee for some guest homes?

First and foremost, we charge a cleaning fee because we highly value our staff. The fee allows us to pay them a liveable wage for their excellent work.
We also spend more time cleaning the units than what you might think; washing ALL bedding and blankets, cleaning hot tubs, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing etc. takes time. In comparison to your average hotel or vacation rental, we probably spend 3X longer on cleaning a unit. It is very costly for us to provide the amenities we provide for our valued guests!

Do you have a minimum night requirement?

Lupine House has a 2 night minimum year-round, unless there are less nights available. In that case we would book fewer nights. Canyon Cottage has a 2 night minimum in the summer, 1 night in the off season.

Why do some units have different booking options?

Aspen & Birch can be booked as either 2 bed, 2 bath or 1 bed, 1 bath in shoulder season. If you book the latter, the 2nd bedroom/bathroom would be locked. You would still be the only guest in the home. When booking online, choose your preferred option for Aspen or Birch.

Little Lupine is simply the downstairs floor of the Lupine. If you book "Little" option, we will lock the upstairs floor of the home. No other guests would be in the house. Little Lupine is only available in the off season.

Do the guest homes have beach access?

Baycrest Lodge's main property sits on a bluff about 550 ft. above the ocean. Although you have unobstructed views of the water, beach access is restricted by the height of the bluff. You can easily get to the beach by driving into town (about a 10-15 minute drive). For a more adventurous trip to the beach, you can hike the Diamond Creek Trail (the trailhead is a 5 minute drive from our property).

What happens if I get sick and need to cancel my trip?

We highly recommend adding the "Trip Protection" option when you make your reservation. This can be done online at check out or over the phone with us. Trip Protection allows guests to receive a full refund if they cancel within 14 days of their arrival due to illness (including Covid-19). Learn more about Trip Protection here. A second option is to compare 3rd party travel insurance rates here.

Can I have my wedding at Baycrest Lodge?

To keep it fair for everyone, we accommodate weddings only for full cabin rental onsite. We'd be happy to discuss this further with you.

Are the guest homes private?

Baycrest Lodge's guest homes are within short walking distance of each other but we've designed them to be as private as possible. Please note that Fireweed and Alder share the same building – Fireweed is on the ground level and Alder is on the second story. Fireweed and Alder have separate entrances and their hot tubs are placed so that other guests can not see them.

See the property map to help you decide which unit will be the best fit for you.
