Bear viewing in Katmai National Park is the adventure of a lifetime. You start the day by meeting your pilots/guides at Sasquatch Alaska Adventures’ headquarters. After getting fitted with hip waders, you’ll find your spot in a 6-seater plane and head for one of the most pristine pieces of wilderness that Alaska has to offer.
During the tour, you will have ample opportunity to watch Alaskan brown bears play and eat in a beautiful river mouth. Your waders will come in handy as your guides lead you through a shallow river, stopping on sandbars and at the water’s edge to take in the views.
Participants must be able to walk up to five miles in four hours and be comfortable navigating uneven surfaces.

Ask anyone who has visited Homer before…the town has a stunning view of the Kenai Mountains and its 3,000 ft. peaks that rise out of the ocean. They’re beautiful no matter where you are in town, but taking in the views from the middle of Kachemak Bay is especially hard to beat. Our partners, Coldwater Alaska, will take you on an exciting ride when you book one of their two-hour wildlife scenic tours. Their upscale landing crafts hold up to 6 passengers. You can decide if you’d rather stand on deck or stay seated in your boat’s heated cabin during the tour.
These adventures are perfect for anyone wanting a quick, yet full Alaska adventure. Depending on the time of year, you might see birds, otters, seals, whales, etc. In our opinion, checking out Alaska’s rugged coastline is a worthwhile adventure no matter what!
You’ll begin your tour from the harbor at the end of the Homer Spit. Each trip looks slightly different from the next because the boat’s course depends on where your captain thinks you’re most likely to see wildlife.
*When you book a wildlife scenic tour, you get a private charter for two hours. A boat can hold up to 6 people maximum.
Homer, Alaska would be nothing if it weren’t for its connection to fishing. If you ask us, a cooler full of the highest quality fish in the world is a pretty good souvenir to take back home. When you book a fishing trip through Baycrest Lodge, you’ll have the opportunity to go after halibut, salmon, and rockfish aboard one of Homer’s finest charter boats, the Current Lady. This custom-built vessel is equipped with three Yamaha 425 hp outboard motors, highly sophisticated electronics, and a Seakeeper stabilization system that will substantially reduce sea sickness.
Their captains are very friendly, knowledgeable and well-known in the Homer Charter fleet as top fishermen. They go above and beyond to ensure their clients have a memorable, successful fishing trip.
* Trips last 8-10 hours and prices depend on which combination of salmon, rockfish and halibut you’d like to fish for.
